Hey there, and Welcome to my little corner of paradise! I'm Charlotte, the Gulf Coast Granny and on this channel, you'll find ME, a middle-aged southern lady who loves to share her kitchen and garden. In the kitchen, I specialize in making the most of the grocery budget. I cook simple southern recipes from scratch. I demonstrate simple hacks to spend less time in the kitchen too. Lots of those hacks come from my year-round garden here in South Mississippi, where I grow as much food as I can in a very small backyard.
While I'm sharing my kitchen and garden, You might also hear stories about my family, get some wisdom from my 5ish decades on this planet, or just hear about the funny things my grandbabies do when they visit me. On Friday nights at 9:30pm, I do a live stream with Poppy, my husband of 20 years. We discuss any and everything and even have guests. We sure hope you enjoy our videos and subscribe to the channel!!

Highlights of Our Homecoming Band Performance 2023
As you know my son is a freshman in the high school band. Friday was the Homecoming game, and they have 6 more days until State Competition. Here are some highlights of the Band's performance on Friday night. So far this season they have placed 3rd, then 2nd in 5A class bands. Please keep these kids in your thoughts as they travel and perform their hearts out next weekend. Enjoy this proud band mom's brag video!!

It's all good, Marcelle. I'm just relieved that the worst is over for us.
I grew them this season it was fun and beautiful, but I had the very same reaction as you! the beans were very very mild. I steamed mines first and then finished sautéing with garlic because the skin is thicker than regular green bean. The garlic really helped w/ flavor, I agree with you I don’t think I’ll grow them again next year. Also I let some of the noodle beans get really big n then what I did was broke open the pods and took the beans out and I’m gonna try and sauté them with some garlic.
I didn't even think of taking the beans out! I'd like to grow them again not to eat, but just for decoration!! Did your's bring lots of ants? Mine had ants all over them!

Do you continue to water throughout the winter when they’re dormant?
My peppers continue to grow in winter so yes, I water them, not often tho. We get enough rain in winter that I don't usually need to water too much.

My grandma taught me to how cut up a chicken MANY yrs ago, always with the wishbone. And since she was feeding a family with 7 children, she fried the neck and the back for her pieces. I love those parts. I'm now teaching my grandsons how to cook. Tonight they learn how to do this. Great video Granny!!
I love hearing stories like this! I too have 7 kids. Six are adults now, one is still in high school. I don't cut up my chicken anymore, but it's a great skill to have! Thanks so much for watching! Kudos for teaching those young men how to cook too.

Hi Charlot, great video. Do you know if this preservation technic preserves the Allicin in the garlic? Allicin is the pungent juice that comes out of the garlic when you crush it. This is really what I want to preserve because it is the most potent part of the garlic for heart health and many more. Thanks in advance.

Hey!!! Sorry I missed you!! 2024 hasn't been that great for me... My husband (on paper for the last 13) of 16 years passed away Christmas Day, a dear client passed away on December 30th (the 25 anniversary of my Dad's) dying, my Mom, the woman I thought who would live forever, passed away February 5th in the same hospice room as my client five weeks before and then I lost another client April 29th. My heart is so broken.
I'm sorry for your losses, Karen. Unfortunately, None of us make it out of here alive. Hope things begin to look up soon!
